Release Notes for Compodium Secure Meetings: Portal and Video meeting

Video meeting

  • We just added real-time emoji reactions in the video meeting so participants can quickly express feedback and making sessions feel more interactive. This is default on for portal and is available as an option for all other products. 

Portal

  • Ability to configure our feature for pause meeting for administrators. The feature of pause meeting gets activated if a meeting organizer unexpectedly leaves (for example due to network issues). This have previously been on org level, but can now be configured per lobby in portal

  • Fallback to backup provider for AI LLM calls. This improves availability should one of our providers experience downtime.

We're adding european transcription and AI summaries (only for customers who it opt-in)

  • Transcription and AI summaries (note that we only use European providers under European legal control, no US based services). For now, available for all customers but needs to be enabled by the owner from portal in Settings > Security 
  • Transcription and summaries have adjustable data retention (using the organizations existing settings) and privacy masking of PII data like SSN, phone number and email addresses.

How to get started with AI transcription

The feature is optional at the organizational level and can be enabled by your owner through your meeting portal.

You start the transcription within the meeting by clicking Transcribe.

Once the meeting has ended, you will find the transcription and summary under Meeting Summaries on the homepage.

New background images

 

We have added more background images, making it easier to create a more neutral and professional meeting environment, no matter where you are.

To add a background image, go to Settings in the video meeting (reachable from the preview screen before you join or within the video meeting)
 

Display of hand-raise order

 

When multiple participants raise their hands, the order is now clearly displayed, both in the participant list and directly in the video tiles. This makes it easier to moderate meetings and maintain a clear speaking order.

For meeting hosts: Option to turn off meeting partcipant's video

Meeting hosts can now choose to turn off video for guests, which can be useful in larger meetings or when limiting the number of video streams. We have also made several stability improvements to Video, including reducing issues where participants’ video was previously not displayed correctly.

  • Today’s meetings
    You can now see an overview of today’s scheduled meetings directly in the portal.
  • Schedule invite
    It is now possible to schedule meetings and send calendar invites in advance.
    Please note: These features require data storage to be enabled. Users can choose how many days data should be stored in: Settings -> Security and Integrity -> Data Storage. 
  • New display name options in your profile
    We’ve expanded the display‑name settings in My Profile so you can control how you appear in meetings. In addition to Full name and Custom name, you can now choose:
    • Full name + title
    • Anonymous
    Your current choice is preserved, and you can change it anytime in My Profile. Note: When you select Anonymous, other participants will see “Anonymous”, while you still see your own name on your screen.
  • Other improvements related to accessibility and minor fixes.

Video

  • Meetings now use mono sound by default. This is in line with industry best practices and ensures a more stable and consistent audio experience across devices and varying network conditions.

Portal

  • The portal frontend now dynamically sets the <html lang="..."> attribute based on the user’s selected language, improving accessibility and localization.

    Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where participants could not see each other when reusing a previously created meeting room. In these cases, the participant counter was incorrect, and no attendees were visible in the list or on video.
  • Fixed an issue where a shared screen could get stuck if the sharer left the meeting.
  • Fixed an issue where participants’ video tiles were not displayed correctly during screen sharing. For example, on Safari with many participants, some visible attendees disappeared from the layout even though they remained in the participant list.
  • Fixed an issue preventing customers from adding or editing team members, where form fields were not active or editable.

In the latest release (28th of August 2025), you can find new quality improvements with focus on mobile performance and loading time, specifically for mobile devices. This release did not include any new features but contained important performance enhancements, focusing on:

  • Reducing device overheating during meetings

  • Improved video quality, especially when video is choppy

  • Shorter loading time when starting a meeting

Concrete improvements:

  • iOS: New codec for better video quality

  • Shorter loading time at meeting startup

  • Standardized layer handling for video streams

  • We have seen an increase in mobile device usage (especially among guests), and these optimizations aim to ensure smoother meetings on these devices.

    In the latest release (21th of August 2025), we are shipping a huge release based on all work during summer and our freeze in release windows.     Added tabbing support to the “More functions” menu for better keyboard navigation.

  • Fixed various tabbing and focus issues for improved accessibility.

  • Removed outdated labels and focus styles for a cleaner UI.

  • Implemented optional chaining and nullish coalescing for safer data handling.

  • Removed height-based mobile detection for more consistent controls across devices.

  • Added protection against recursive socket reconnections to improve stability.

  • Fixed an issue where streams jumped to the highest video layer, improving visual consistency.

  • Adjusted overall video height for better layout alignment.

  • Added iOS browser detection to disable background effects on unsupported devices.

  • Fixed accessibility issues in Confrere preflight environment.

Portal

  • Fixed tabbing and focus issues across multiple components.

  • Added ARIA labels for accessibility (team member buttons and form elements).

  • Fixed “Change email” modal on mobile devices.

  • Reordered panels on the dashboard for better usability.

  • Enabled subscription details management directly from the dashboard (Confrere)

Portal

  • Delete Invitations: Admins and users can now delete created invitations directly in the portal.

  • Dynamic Information Banners: Introduced a new way to share information via banners on the dashboard, waiting room, and login page — this will make us be better in proactive communications for example if any services is down. So we reach all of the customers, and also visitors in waiting room.

  • Failed Payment Visibility: Users now see clear notifications when a payment fails, improving transparency and guidance (Confrere)

    Video Meeting

  • Improved Error Handling: Enhanced system messages for users experiencing poor network quality or high CPU load, making it clearer when performance is affected.

  • A minor release is planned later tonight to fix an aspect ratio issue in the video meeting interface.

General Improvements

  • Numerous bug fixes and stability enhancements across the platform to improve overall reliability and user experience.

  • Accessability fixes due to ongoing accessibility audit. More about this later!

  • Resolved the issue with black video streams.

  • Fixed a bug where users would lose connection when new participants joined.

  • Ensured consistent video quality when toggling the camera.

  • Adjusted to respect the sender's aspect ratio on mobile devices.

  • Introduced throttling for dominant speaker.

  • Improved notifications for poor network or high CPU usage: they now display only once and are shown only to the affected user.

In the latest release (13th of june 2025), you’ll find new features, improvements to stability, and an enhanced onboarding experience — all designed to make your Compodium experience smoother and more consistent.

Preflight 

  • No camera device detected: When a user performs a preflight test without any connected camera, they will now be able to proceed into the meeting without requiring a camera.

Portal/Authentication of visitors

  • SMS Authentication Visibility: If SMS authentication is not enabled at the organizational level, the related page and the option to add visitors will now be hidden.

    Portal: Visitor Notifications

  • Lobby notification timing: Organizers and users in the portal or meeting are now notified that a visitor is in the lobby only after the visitor has completed the preflight test.

    • Previously, notifications appeared immediately after authentication, which could cause confusion and make it seem like the visitor hadn’t joined.

Portal: Usability improvements

  • List and Search Updates: Updated the design and performance of list and search functionality for organizations with a large number of lobbies and users.

  • Cancel Button Removed: The Cancel button under Your Account > Language has been removed, as navigation should now only occur through the main menu.

Portal : Statistics

  • Performance Enhancements: Optimization of statistics-related updates according to the previously verified reference video.

In the lates release (22th of May 2025) you can find new features, improving stability and our onboarding experience

Video

  • Fix: Resolved an issue where the shared screen could get stuck when a user left and rejoined a meeting.

  • Optimization: Improved video resolution handling for mobile devices to enhance performance.

  • Fix: Addressed an issue where the video button could freeze, preventing users from turning off their camera.

  • Fix: Fixed a bug where video froze when users applied background effects and switched tabs.

    Portal

    Several updates were implemented to create a more unified and user-friendly experience:

  • Logo: For new portals, the organization name is now displayed instead of the Compodium logo by default

  • Design (UX/UI): Enhanced visual and functional consistency when users transition from the portal to the preflight test.

  • Language: The language selected during login is now consistent throughout the entire user journey — both in the portal and the video meeting.

    New feature: Improved Onboarding with Guided Tour. For new users logging in for the first time, we’ve introduced a Guided Tour to help them get started and explore key features. The guided tour can also be accessed later via: Profile (your name) → Support → Guided Tour

    Administration in portal

  • Resend Invitation: Admins can now resend invitation links directly from the interface, without needing to remove and re-add users.

  • SEO: Customer organization subdomains are now hidden from search engines to enhance privacy and security.

Video stability improvements

Over the past few months, our development team has been working on a major refactoring of the video meeting experience. This work has primarily focused on improving internal code quality and optimizing CPU usage on mobile devices. These improvements are largely behind the scenes but will result in better performance and a smoother experience, especially during resource-intensive meetings.

Additional Fixes and Optimizations

  • Bug fix related to active speaker handling in multi-page meetings. Previously, video tiles could jump to the top-left corner of the main page when someone started speaking before returning to their original page.

Focus: Bug fixes, improved stability, and enhanced communication features 

Video 

  • Expand Button (Screen Sharing): Fixed an issue where the expand button during screen sharing did not function correctly.

  • Spotlight Freeze: Fixed a problem where video could freeze during spotlight mode, improving reliability in larger meetings.

  • Device Selection: Devices selected in preflight are now automatically recognized and applied once entering the meeting.

  • Loading Feedback: Added clearer visual feedback when video tiles are loading, providing a smoother user experience.

  • Chat and Members List Persistence: Chats and participant lists are no longer persisted between meetings (in the same meeting room), improving privacy and performance.
